15 years ago, before Facebook, before Twitter, before Wordpress, there was LiveJournal, and it was a community, and it was good.

Then it changed hands, moved away, and fell under questionable political control.

So here I am.

I was just thinking about you yesterday! After exporting my LJ to convenient PDF, I not-quite-randomly chose to go back to 2005 as my first foray into the past. What a time that was. Thank you for being there :)

Wow, yes. That was in fact a hell of a time in our lives! I'm glad it's done, but glad it happened.

What tool did you use for the PDF export?

For the PDF, I used the service at BlogBooker;
https://www.blogbooker.com/

It's a pay-for service, but I'm pretty pleased with the quality, and I was able to break up L and my LJs into 10 PDFs, roughly equal by size, but organized by years.

For the XML and HTML, I used the Windows app 'LjArchive'.

Interesting. I need to get all of my LJ entries into WordPerfect 5.1 so I can close it out and add them all to my great diary.wp document on the NeXT. That one goes back to 1986, and is truly a long running account of my life.

Always good to be able to keep the events in order.
